Certified Nursing Assistant - Trainee

We offer a Nursing Assistant certification program called Earn While You Learn. You can earn a paycheck while working towards your CNA certification all at our Veterans Homes. The program includes:

  • 6-8 week training course
  • Paid certification
  • All classes and testing are completed at the facility
  • On-the-job training
  • Up to $3/hour pay increase after program graduation

Cemeteries Grounds/Maintenance Technician

The Missouri Veterans Cemetery program ensures Veterans are given a dignified resting place, and the grounds/maintenance crew is essential to ensuring this service. Our dedicated team members do anything from mowing and weeding to operating heavy machinery and straightening headstones. While this is hard work, it is also very rewarding. Honoring our nation’s heroes is our ultimate goal and with talented and committed team members we accomplish this mission.

Licensed Practical Nurse & Registered Nurse

As a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse, your primary responsibilities include the following:

  • Assess needs of Veterans and ensures services are consistent with needs
  • Perform clinical nursing procedures according to acceptable standards of practice
  • Coordinates tasks of nursing personnel designated to specified wing/unit
  • Provide skilled technical nursing services as directed by Registered Nurse Supervisor and report significant changes
  • Deliver medication accurately and conduct follow-up observations
  • Participate in orientation of unit staff
  • Transcribe and implement physician orders
  • Document in the electronic medical record (EMR) accurately and timely

Qualifications include licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Missouri – in good standing; or a recent graduate of an accredited nursing program may practice as a graduate nurse until results of first licensure examination are received or until 90 days after graduation, whichever occurs first, as allowed by the Missouri Board of Nursing.

Certified Medication Technician

As a certified medication technician your primary responsibilities include the following.

  • Administer medication utilizing acceptable standards of practice
  • Document accuracy for medication delivery and evidence of follow-up observations for effect
  • Serve as liaison between charge personnel and Certified Nursing Assistants
  • Assist in the orientation of new team members
  • Provide Veteran care as needed according to standards of practice
  • Comply with Veteran’s individualized care plan and support the Veterans
  • Document information in the Veteran’s electronic medical record (EMR), both accurately and timely

Qualifications include a valid certification as certified medication technician in Missouri and 1+ years of relevant experience.

Food Service Assistant

Everyone loves a great meal, right? Our Veterans deserve a nutritious, appetizing meal as a part of our mission to provide quality, compassionate care. As the Food Service Assistant, you get the opportunity to make that happen. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Assist the Veterans’ meals, which includes meal selection, tray line assembly, and serving
  • Prepare foods as assigned
  • Deliver and pick up food carts to/from resident areas
  • Clean the dining area – sweep and mop floors, wipe down equipment, remove garbage
  • Operate dish machine and other kitchen equipment safely
  • Lift, carry and transfer heavy food containers – load, stock, label, and rotate

Qualifications include a valid certification as certified medication technician in Missouri and 1+ years of relevant experience.

Driver

Drivers transport our state’s heroes safely –We need a trusted individual to get our Veterans where they need to go – doctor’s office, hospital, or specialty care centers. A Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred but not required for this position

CNA Driver

  • Transport the Veteran to external medical appointments and perform Veteran transfers and care as required by the Veteran
  • Assure protective oversight of Veteran while in care outside of the facility, which may include meals, repositioning, hygiene, care and safety
  • Schedule transportation for medical appointments
  • Drive bus/van during day and at night, in town and highways

Non-CNA Driver

  • Transport the Veteran to external medical appointments
  • Schedule transportation for medical appointments
  • Drive bus/van during day and at night, in town and highways

Qualifications include a valid certification as certified medication technician in Missouri and 1+ years of relevant experience.

Therapeutic Services Worker

At the Missouri Veterans Home, a Recreation/Music Therapist Assistant assists the team with therapeutic and leisure activities for our state’s heroes. Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Learn and demonstrate basic methods and application of recreational, music, and other therapeutic activities
  • Make preparations/arrangements for and carry out activities, such as group outings
  • Provide resources and support to Veterans to enhance skills appropriate to their physical and cognitive ability
  • Document electronically activity attendance records, assessments, progress notes, and care plans
  • Drive bus or other state vehicles during day/night both in town and on highway
  • Lift and move Veterans as needed

This position does not require any relevant experience but we are looking for someone with a current Missouri Class E drivers license or is able to attain it within 60 days of being hired.

Veterans Home Maintenance & Grounds Technician

Our Veterans Home is “Always on Mission” for excellence not just in Veteran care, but in the facilities in which they live. As a Maintenance/Grounds Technician, no two days will be the same as you maintain and repair structures, systems, and grounds around the Home. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Complete work in trade areas such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, concrete and masonry, painting, plastering, and mechanical repair.
  • Perform construction, preventative maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on the facility, machines, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Operate various powered equipment, such as lawn tractors, forklifts, power tools, motorized hydraulic jacks, or related equipment.
  • Participate in the maintenance of the Home’s grounds, including snow removal as needed.

1-3 years of relevant experience is preferred but you must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to tolerate and work in varying temperatures/weather conditions, dust, noise, confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops. This position does require availability to work after scheduled hours and be on call for emergencies.
