Annual State Women Veterans Conference May 6 in Maryland Heights Missouri

The Missouri Veteran Commission will hold its 4th Annual State Women Veterans Conference on May 6, 2010 at the Maryland Heights Community Center, 2344 McKelvey Road, Maryland Heights, Missouri from 10am-2pm.  Information tables and Registration open at 9 a.m.
The conference will focus on the women who have served our country and what federal and state benefits are available.  According to the VA Regional Office, currently there are 37,287 woman veterans living in Missouri and only approximately 10% were in receipt of pension or compensation benefits at the end FY 2009.
Events will include presentations by Missouri Veterans Commission's Homes Program, Cemeteries Program, and Veterans Service Officers, as well as the Federal VA hospitals and VA Regional Office.
Karen Etzler, the Missouri State Women Veterans Coordinator said, "There are many woman veterans who are unaware they are eligible for VA benefits and entitled to the same potential benefits on par with our male counterparts, including VA health care, pension, compensation, education and the total realm of VA benefits. We have a good system of reaching our current woman veterans that are discharged and have a Missouri address, but there are many woman veterans living in Missouri that we have not reached."
For more information about the conference, please contact Karen Etzler at 816-387-2841 or by email at karen.etzler@mvc.dps.mo.gov.
