Missouri Veterans Commission - St. James Veterans Home

Missouri Veterans Home – St. James was founded in 1896 as the State Federal Soldiers Home. As the first Veterans Home to open its doors in the State of Missouri, we have been home to numerous Veterans who have served our nation across the globe. Since that time, we have been dedicated to providing the highest quality and compassionate care for our Veterans. In 1931, the Home was purchased by the State of Missouri and later renamed the Missouri Veterans Home in 1974. Positioned on 40 acres, the Home is surrounded by oak trees, some of which have stood since its original founding, much like the original Chapel standing strong today, a landmark in time to the Home. Today, the Missouri Veterans Home – St James is a beacon of pride for the community and its Veterans as it is a showcase to the American Heroes that live within.

The 2025 monthly rate for residency is $2,697. This rate is adjusted each year with an expected COLA increase each January. Check out the FAQ sheet for more information. The resident charge includes the following services:

Tour MVH - St. James

Interested in a tour of our Home? We offer in-person tours for Veterans interested in living in our Home. Each home has a secured dementia unit that includes a dining room, activity area, and enclosed courtyard. We pride ourselves on offering a community where Veterans are cared for by highly trained team members in a fun and engaging atmosphere.
